Country Livin'

We spent a few days in rural New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. We had a church retreat during the weekend and tagged on a one-night camping trip while we were away. The kids had so much fun. Their frame of reference for the whole experience was Curious George who lives in Manhattan and periodically visits his country house. They didn't seem disappointed that our "country house" was a motel-style room in a conference center, and they made sure to imitate everything that George did on his camping trip. They were very upset when we took down the tent, and Arthur had a major meltdown when we drove up to our Brooklyn apartment. He wants to pick apples and roast marshmallows and count the stars and do our light show dance (ha! family secret). We had one of our favorite family moments when we laid together in the grass looking at the stars while the kids made up stories about the stars and angels and pigs and whatever came to mind...Although they loved country living, they are adjusting easily to life back in the city. Sorry Arthur, we're here to stay!

How cute. They're getting the best of both worlds. Hey, I just saw at CTS that Jamison is going to be in STL next week. Are you coming? I'd love to see you if you are!

Fun photos! How is the potty-training, by the way? I think I'm going to start showing Big Boy your blog, telling him that "these children are learning to use the potty, too." ANY BIT of motivation...ANYTHING. No progress to report here...except one voluntary t-ting incident earlier this week.

Jessie, we thought about you the whole time. We have a campsite picked out for your family (right next to ours).

Christy, I'm not coming to STL unfortunately. 4 plane tickets is more than we can handle...Maybe you and Erin should take a moms trip to NYC??

Erin, potty training hasn't changed. I'm afraid my kids will be no motivation for yours. I bought plastic underwear, but then chickened out after 1 accident. It felt cruel to make them wear those horrible things. But if cruelty is what it takes...

Depending on how our candidating trip goes next weekend, we might be a short three-ish hours from you all in the near future...I have such romantic ideas about Brooklyn :)
